CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
2:00PM F#8 Shelby-8 Siler City-6
Winning Pitcher: Nick Hastings, Threw a complete game with 8ks. Jay Seagle had 3 hits and Thomas Weaver had 2 hits and Ben Gold and Bradford Lail and Grant Byers and Colby Creswell and Cody Fitch and Chandler Young and Nick Hastings and Tripp Hastings had 1 hit each. Tripp Hastings made a diving catch in centerfield with a runner on base to end the game. Other Team Members: Bradley Keller and Jackson Mims. Coaches: Head Coach Charlie Ruff, Cory Ferree, Bradley Keller, Terry Dillis,Tournament Notes: To say the weather was Hot 99 Degrees with a Heat Index of 105 would be an understatement. The Quest for this Championship began on Wednesday, July 21st as one of the parents paid for an extra night of rooms for the players and Coaches and Park staff. This turned out to be a huge advantage as the team was well rested for the games and the 5 hour drive was behind them. The players were well represented as family members and friends who were staying at the team hotel or nearby hotels turned out in force at the games. As what could only be described as tent city around the fields. The team was also treated to a great meal by a group of parents. The parents also made sure that the team had plenty of water in the dugouts for the games. And after each game uniforms were washed and ready for the next game. I am sure that I do not know about all the acts of kindness that was shown.

Winning Pitcher: Jay Seagle, Starter Grant Byers left the Game after 3 Innings with the Game tied. Grant Byers and Jay Seagle stayed hot at the plate with 2 hits each. Ben Gold and Bradford Lail and Thomas Weaver and Jackson Mims and Tripp Hastings and Nick Hastings had 1 hit each.
Friday, July 23rd

11:00AM F#8 Shelby-20 vs Hickory-4
Winning Pitcher: Bradford Lail, Chandler Young and Bradley Keller also saw mound duty. Grant Byers and Bradley Keller and Tripp Hastings had 3 hits each and Jay Seagle and Thomas Weaver and Colby Creswell had 2 hits each and Ben Gold and Jackson Mims and Nick Hastings and Chandler Young had 1 hit each.

Winning Pitcher: Jay Seagle, Grant Byers had 2 hits to pace the team at the plate. Jay Seagle and Nick Hastings and Cody Fitch and Thomas Weaver and Jackson Mims and Tripp Hastings and Bradford Lail had 1 hit each.
TAR HEEL DISTRICT 1 TOURNAMENT
Wednesday, July 14th
Shelby-14 Hickory-3
Bradford Lail hit a 3 run Home Run in the bottom of the 5th inning to end the game and give Shelby the District 1 Championship and advance to the State Championship to be held in Rocky Mount, NC beginning Thursday, July 22nd. Grant Byers was the winning pitcher striking out 9 and allowing only 2 hits. Chandler Young had 3 hits with Cody Fitch, Lail and Byers adding 2 hits for Shelby. Tripp Hastings also hit a Home Run for Shelby.
Tuesday, July 13th
Shelby-19 Alexander Co.-0
Jackson Mims was the winning pitcher and Nick Hastings led Shelby at the plate with 3 hits. Jay Seagle, Grant Byers, Chandler Young, Colby Creswell and Mims added 2 hits each for Shelby.
Hickory-16 Newton-1
Drew Rhoney was the winning pitcher and Brian Teague had 4 hits to pace Hickory.
Monday, July 12th
6:00PM Newton-0 vs Alexander Co.-10
Winning Pitcher: Dylan Strikeleather, Dylan Wilson had 2 hits and Dylan Strikeleather and John Rosenbaum and Jeremy Hampton had 1 hit each to lead Alexander Co. Jordan Beatty and Zac Powell had 1 hit each to pace Newton.
8:00PM Shelby-5 vs Hickory-1
Winning Pitcher: Nick Hastings, Grant Byers and Bradley Keller and Tripp Hastings had 1 hit each to lead Shelby. Coan McAlpine had 2 hits and Geralbert had 1 hit to pace Hickory.
