Planning Services : Center City Master Plan
Center City Master Plan was approved in 2007 by the City of Shelby City Council.
Like many communities, much of the retail base of Shelby has moved away from the uptown core to the 74 Bypass strip that bi-sects the community. However, the efforts of the City of Shelby along with the Uptown Shelby Association have stemmed the tide of disinvestment and brought specialty shops and restaurants to Uptown alongside some stalwart businesses that have remained in Uptown through the years. Recognizing its regional position, understanding that Uptown can continue to flourish as a destination for local and regional residents as well as visitors, and capitalizing on the energy of the newly formed Destination Cleveland County group, the City of Shelby commissioned this plan to present a roadmap to the future of the City Center.
The Center City Master Plan called for a review of the exisitng city tree resoruce within within the Center City. This report presents a costeffective framework of tree maintenance and replacement to allow the City to maximize the benefits of its urban forest over the next 5 to 10 years.
