A contractor for the City of Shelby will be replacing a water line on Brookwood Drive on Thursday, July 23; weather permitting. Interruptions in water service will occur between 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. Expect partial lane closures during this time. If you experience discolored water after this time, turn on your faucets and if you encounter discolored water, run cold water for 4—5 minutes or until the water runs clear allowing new water to work its way into your pipes. If the water is not clear, wait a few more minutes and check again. In some cases, there may be slight discoloration for a few hours. This discoloration only affects the appearance of the water; it does not affect the taste or water quality. Postpone washing laundry until the water runs clear at the tap, (usually no more than a day), then wash a load of dark clothes first. If pressure or volume seems low, check your faucet screens for trapped particles. Monitor the City’s website (www.cityofshelby.com), and Facebook and Instagram accounts (@cityofShelby) for updates.
