Due to a strong musical heritage, and an abundance of local talent in our area,  Shelby, North Carolina was selected to participate in a pilot program that would designate our community as a Music Friendly Community. The purpose of this program is to identify individuals, groups, and businesses that make up the musical nucleus of our community.

Participating in the Music Friendly Communities Program provides:
○  A network for fostering music industry development.
○ Commits to industry professionals that certified communities are serious about attracting and developing music industry growth.
○ Ongoing statewide support of the music industry in participating local communities.
○ A local framework and support to grow the music ecosystem.
○ Determining benefits for participating that can include tourism and marketing support, incentives or dedicated funding for participating communities.

Help make our community a Music Friendly Community!

We need your help to identify the individuals, groups, and businesses from our area that need to be included on the list. These would include:

• Individual artists
• Groups, bands, orchestras, choirs, etc. that perform publicly
• Music producers and publishers
• Recording studios
• Radio stations
• Music instructors
• Music stores
• DJ’s
• Venues
