Deer Urban Archery Season

Hunting and fishing North Carolina is regulated by the NC Wildlife Resources Commission(WRC). The WRC gives municipalities the option of participating in a specified Deer Urban Archery Season by submitting a letter of intent to participate in the season along with a map clearly defining the area to be included in the season.

The established dates for North Carolina’s 2025 Deer Urban Archery Season are January 11 through February 16, 2025.

The City of Shelby submitted a letter of intent along with this City boundaries map to the State in order to participate in the program. Deer urban archery season only applies to land within our City limits.

All hunting regulations apply. Hunters must follow regular deer season regulations, such as licensing, tagging, reporting, permission from landowners, and all other safety regulations.

The Deer Urban Archery Season does not obligate private landowners to allow hunting on their property, nor does it eliminate the ethical requirement for obtaining permission from the land - owner before hunting. The City does not maintain any lands for hunting. Hunters are legally required to obtain written permission to hunt on posted property.
