Throughout its history the Fire & Rescue Department has enjoyed a reputation for excellence in service.  The department embodies a multi-faceted approach  to public safety protection ensuring; that buildings under construction adhere to modern safety standards (engineering), safe practices and habits are taught in our community (education), that existing buildings in the city are maintained in a safe condition (enforcement), and effective intervention is mobilized when incidents occur throughout the city (emergency response).  These four service delivery pillars come together to form the community-risk reduction model which asserts that successful communities are places where its citizens can feel safe and secure (economic vitality).
