Battalion 1 

Battalion 1 is the emergency operations section of the Fire & Rescue Department consisting of 48 career full-time staff members and 10 part-time staff members.  The battalion is divided into 3 platoons ( Battalion 1-A, Battalion 1-B, Battalion 1-C); and each platoon is led by a battalion chief that supervises 16 officers and firefighters. The platoon's work a rotating twenty-four hour schedule that provides the city with a consistent staffing pattern to ensure a rapid response of resources regardless of the type or scope of the emergency, it location in the city, or the time of day.  Staff members are assigned to a company operating out of one of the city's three strategically located firehouses.  The Fire & Rescue Department deploys two engine companies, one squad company, one ladder-heavy rescue company, and a battalion chief to respond to the variety of public safety emergency's that occur in the city on a daily basis.  Click the sub-tabs to the left under the Battalion 1 heading for more information.
