Planning  handles a wide variety of long-range and day-to-day growth management, land use, zoning, and development review functions.

Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating the zoning permit and subdivision/site plan review process
• Administering the Unified Development Ordinance and various adopted plans
• Providing support to the Planning & Zoning Board, Zoning Board of Adjustment, Keep Shelby Beautiful, City Council and various council appointed committees regarding planning related issues
• Preparing a variety of plans and analysis tools to assist the City with planning initiatives
