Sidewalk-Construction & Maintenance
Sidewalks are constructed and maintained in compliance with Handicap Access (ADA) and Public Building regulations.

Street Cleaning and Curb Cutting
The streets are swept and cleaned on a regular cycle.

Pothole Patching
Potholes are taken care of as soon as they are detected by the city staff or reported by the public.  You may do this by calling the Administration Office at 704-484-6846 or by emailing our office at: susan.rippy@cityofshelby.com


Curb & Gutter and Driveway
Construction and maintenance replacement as required for public safety.

Paving
A pavement condition survey is used by our City Engineers to determine which streets qualify for resurfacing. The City develops a resurfacing list based on this criteria along with the funds available for paving.

 

Street closing & Detours
During construction and special events, streets are barricaded closed or partly closed by the Division of Streets. Traffic is re-routed for safety.

Snow and Ice Policy
The city streets staff are responsible for intersections, bridges, and overpasses. The plan also helps to keep hospital routes open. Emergency equipment is maintained in a constant state of readiness.
