The City of Shelby offers a Renewable Energy Credit (Electric Rate Rider RECR-1) for customers who install solar photovoltaic, wind powered or biomass fueled generating systems. The rate structure is Buy All, Sell All and the credit is the Avoided Cost.

Our process is as follows:

• Interconnection Request and payment of administration fee by customer
• Review and verification of request by Energy Services Department
• Purchase of applicable permits by customer
• Interconnection Agreement executed
• Purchase Power Agreement (PPA2) executed
• Installation of equipment by vendor
• Installation of metering equipment, payment for meter by customer
• Inspection of equipment by City Inspections Department and Electric Department
• Verification of disconnecr; if applicable by City Electric Department
• Information regarding Renewable Energy Credit submitted to City Billing Department
