Duties
Our Sanitary Sewer Department is responsible for the management, maintenance, cleaning and
inspection of 220 miles of gravity sewer and force main lines with 20 lift stations. The City also maintains collections systems for the Town of Fallston and Town of Kingstown. Other responsibilities include maintenance of 82 miles of utility right of ways.
This department employs 14 highly trained full time employees. Our personnel hold State certifications and NC Water Treatment facility certifications.
In order to provide quality service to our customers, interruptions to service are quickly resolved as employees are on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to correct any problems occurring on the City’s wastewater delivery system. Being highly visible to the public as they work along or near streets throughout the City, the department practices work safety in order to protect employees while fulfilling our commitment to provide service in a responsive and reliable manner.
