Shelby’s 12 million gallon capacity water treatment facility provides potable water for businesses and citizens of the City of Shelby as well as Boiling Springs, NC. Current daily processing averages 5.4 million gallons. Raw water is obtained from the First Broad River.
Behind every drop of water you drink, there is a hard-working team of staff who are committed to your safety. Shelby employs eight trained and certified full-time staff who operate the plant 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Also, the City has an emergency raw water intake line from the Broad River near Boiling Springs connecting to our processing plant.
Shelby is a member of the NC Environmental Stewardship Initiative Program sponsored by the Governor of North Carolina.
