Code Enforcement enforces the City of Shelby Code of Ordinance. Common nuisances code enforcement officers look for are:

  • High grass, weeds, undergrowth/vegetation
  • Junk/inoperative vehicles
  • Accumulation of trash, furniture, and/or non-building material item
  • Unsanitary, hazardous, and dangerous conditions
  • Overgrown, littered vacant lots
  • Accumulation of animal or vegetable matter, solid wastes, or stagnant water
  • Vacant, open, abandoned and/or dilapidated buildings/structures
  • Broken window glass
  • Numerous other deficiencies which render properties substandard or unsafe to its occupants or the general public
