PURPOSE
The purpose of SHDC is to relieve a shortage of decent, safe and sanitary housing for persons of low income, including families and elderly, handicapped or disabled persons in Shelby. Also SHDC serves to promote and advance decent, safe and sanitary housing by means of financing housing projects approved by the City of Shelby. 

MEETINGS 
Once per quarter during each calendar year on the 2nd Tuesday of the month or as needed at 12:00 pm. City of Shelby Housing Department, 801 Logan Street, Shelby, NC

DUTIES
SHDC engages in or assists in the development, financing or operation and carrying out or assisting in carrying out low-income housing project(s) including assistance by borrowing and lending funds.

CURRENT MEMBERS

SHELBY HOUSING DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (SHDC) operates as a non-profit corporation with a six member board that serves as an instrumentality to the City of Shelby since 1981. The board meets when there are business issues to be addressed.
